This is a Churches Together activity, not just St. Mary's and St. Leonard's. You can read more about it on the Churches Together web site www.CTWA.org.uk or go straight to www.StreetPastors.co.uk and watch the video.
Wallingford Street Pastors were commissioned on 28th October 2011 and had their first night on the streets after the service. The plan is to patrol on Friday nights from 22:00 to 02:00. We have enough volunteers to cover this but we'd like to do Saturday nights as well. There will be another chance to train in the new year so why not think and pray about it?
We also need 'Prayer Pastors' who pray at the night time base and 'Prayer Partners' who pray at home while the patrols are out. Both can keep in touch by phone and text messages.
To find out more, contact the coordinator, Ralph Shephard on 07860 256163 or email Wallingford@StreetPastors.org.uk.
Home Groups
We have home groups meeting on different days of the week, mostly in the evenings. Please get in touch if you'd like to join one, or just hear more about it. We'd love to introduce you to a group.
Some are following the Emmaus courses and some have been working through Bishop John Pritchard's book 'Living Jesus.
Would you like to read the morning Bible passages on Sundays? Reading the Bible is an essential part of our time together. It not only means that we hear the word of God but it emphasises the central place of the Bible in our fellowship. Please talk to whoever is leading the services you attend to ask about this.
Do you know your way around a computer? We could use some help with making and showing Powerpoint presentations and movies, during services and other events. Then there's the web site and other things we'd like to do. So if you'd like to use your IT skills at church, then the webmaster (Ralph) might be a good place to start - or talk to the rector.
Worshipping God together and being part of the body of Christ is really 'getting involved'. However, as St. Paul wrote: "Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others". (Romans 12 v 4-5).
So please pray about your part in the fellowship and talk to us about it. We are not complete without you! These are just some of the essential parts of our corporate life, listed here in no particular order, to help you to think and pray about where you can fit in.
Now that the church is open during the week, there are many
opportunities to join the rota to serve coffee or just be there to
enable people to come in and find a quiet space. This is a great way to
meet people - not just those on the rota with you but also the people
who come in. Email Contact@MaryleMore.co.uk
if you'd like to get involved in any of these activities.
